Our story
Sophie is the granddaughter of winegrowers in Beaujolais and an agricultural engineer by training.
Matthieu is an agricultural engineer and oenologist.
They met on the agricultural benches in Montpellier and decided to settle in Vézelay in 2009, with a group of enthusiasts, by chance and an immediate love affair with the place.
They then set down their bags at the beautiful Tharoiseau farm, with their three young children. The story of Domaine la Croix Montjoie could then begin...
Since those early days, the estate has evolved considerably: it has grown from 10 to 15 hectares, and now produces more bottles using organic methods. The team has grown, driven by the same passion for wine and the region.
A domain is also a team
Cédric , vineyard team leader, oversees the pace and work in the vineyard. Out of passion, he leads eco-grazing on the estate.
Stéphane is by his side in the vineyard, whatever the weather or the season.
Mads is in the cellar, taking care of preparing orders and winemaking.
At the estate, Lisa is responsible for reception, tours and relations with local restaurateurs and wine merchants.
